Me, whenever someone mentions Leonard McCoy:
do you know
how hard it is
to take a screencap of this man
in which he doesn’t look
like his stress ulcer is about to burst
damn it Jim
So I watched the first two episodes of Next Generation and though McCoy was in it .2%, he was still the best.
Dr. Bones, MD should have his own show!
You know in Shore Leave, when McCoy dies? And then later on the caretaker comes and Kirk mentions McCoy again?
Then all of a sudden he reappears, and supposedly he was brought back to life. But what if. He’s another imaginary person decided by the caretaker because Kirk mentioned him, and for the rest of the series he’s actually this imaginary McCoy?
That would be weird.
this is only tangentially related but this episode always bugged me when it came to ST IV: The One With the Whales. McCoy says he wants to talk with Spock about what his experience was with the whole death and rebirth thing and Spock tells him he will only talk about it with some one else who has experienced being dead.
Spock, you ass-hat, he was dead.
YOU WERE THERE.
… but what if McCoy really was just recreation from then on and Spock knew it? Then he wouldn’t have experienced death, he would have only experienced recreation.
… . I am not comfortable with this head cannon… .
Not to derail this post even further, but my favorite part of Shore Leave is when Bones lets his closest friends grieve for him for like three hours before checking in with them to tell them that he’s not dead –– just hanging out with some babes.
Bones: I got a text from Jim saying “come over we’re gonna watch a bunch of scary movies” and I show up and they’re watching high school musical
