As a gay lady, I’m sick of the shots fired at Disco to do with BYG tropes. So it would have been okay if Culber was a woman? I know how disheartening it is to see no rep or killed off rep, but at the same time, writers can’t wrap characters in cotton wool JUST because they are gay. I’m glad they had that rep for ssn 1, it was an important one for ST. And after all the twists in ssn 1, can’t ppl know that nothing meets the eye in Disco? It’s only just getting started. There’s more to come.

I know this is gonna sound awful, but I’d rather they bring in Mirror Hugh and have Paul try to form a relationship with him from the ground up than a perfect loving revival of Prime Hugh. I find bringing characters back to life after you’ve killed them cheap. This way isn’t. It is a fundamentally different way we can see how their relationship would form under different circumstances. I’d love it. I know many fans won’t agree though. Multiverse Culmets > Culmets revival.

I really want them to find Prime Lorca I want Jason Isaacs back [Who wouldn’t? Except Jason these-uniforms-gimme-a-daily-wedgie Isaacs maybe] [And why don’t the costume designers use Velcro instead of SEWING PEOPLE INTO THEIR COSTUMES – let those people free, they can help each other rip-a-zip in and out] Because I think it would be very good to genuinely address PTSD as they have not yet done Who better than Isie to do that good acting. Angsty one minute, all business the next ….

I’m really torn with my feelings on the season finale. On the one hand, I feel like the Klingons were convinced, the war resolved, and issues tied up all too quickly. On the other hand, I feel like it was completely in tune with the heart of Star Trek. At its core, Star Trek is about what our society aspires to accomplish: resolution of conflicts and peaceful coexistence based on efficient diplomacy, tolerance, and logic.

I’m trying to enjoy the show, but some events just take me out of it. Sarek’s melee battle against Michael, for instance. Sarek was always presented as being capable of, but being totally above, violence. To think that he would instantly assault a family member is of character.

Admiral Katrina Cornwell is my favourite Admiral since Admiral Ross in Deep Space Nine. Despite her choice to try to explode planets rather than explore them, she for the most part is a competent flag officer.

I thought it was totally unnecessary for the Enterprise to show up. Its cool! (It could be anyway) But (and this was my issue with ST: Into Darkness too) they had really carved out their own identity. To willingly step back within the shadow of the original series just makes no sense to me. I’ve loved the show so far so lets see where they go with it. But are we going to see a third Spock actor?

I really hope that in Season 2 we get more adorable Tilly/Rhys interaction. Their space beer pong scene and Rhys’s eyebrow raise of intrigue after seeing Tilly in full Mirror Universe Terran attire were nice and playful, yet they seemed to indicate a mutual respect for each other. I think Tilly/Rhys would make for cute coupling.

“People Deserve to Have their Faith Rewarded.” If Discovery doesn’t resurrect Hugh Culber promptly in season two, thus rewarding our faith? I’ll be done with the show. As much as I don’t want to be. Because you can’t keep kicking a group of people and expect them to take it.

I just realized something about Choose Your Pain. Lorca’s cell on L’rell’s ship has zero loyal Federation members in it (save for possibly that prisoner who was killed at the start). Mudd is an opportunist who has already been turned by the Klingons, Tyler is actually Voq in disguise, and Lorca is a really Mirror Lorca.
